The Memphis Etsy Team will hold an Indie Style Market Valentine’s Day Popup Shop in Chickasaw Crossing Shopping Center, 2873 Poplar Ave. (at Humes Street) from Feb. 7 through Feb. 15. The popup shop will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The event will showcase creative and diverse local designers and artisans. There are still a few spaces left for additional vendors, who can apply here.
“The team was very motivated after the success of the Indie Style Market Popup at MemShop in Overton Square last Christmas, and many of the designers were just brimming with ideas for new things they wanted to make,” said Tonya Tate, Indie Style Market director. “One of our team members, Shalene Weddle of My Heavenly Creations, had the idea for a Valentine’s Popup to give the community another change to engage with the variety of locally made wares.”
The mission of Indie Style Market is to be a catalyst in building a thriving indie product design community in the Mid-South by providing information, education and opportunity. Up next is opening a permanent retail studio for local indie designers.
Indie Style Market began as a series of handmade shows held in 2010 and 2011 that were sponsored by the Memphis Etsy Team, a group of local makers who connected on Etsy.com, the site for all things handmade.
The team was formed in November 2010 with one member and today has more than 230 members from all over the Mid-South. The team includes sewers, painters, knitters, photographers, graphic designers, milliners, furniture makers and jewelers.
