The re-imagined Rainbow Lake Playground at Overton Park is on track to be finished in late spring.
Crews currently are working to improve drainage and enhance the playground’s entrance walls.
AutoZone has contributed money to build a cargo net climbing structure, while the Children’s Foundation of Memphis has contributed to a wooden climbing structure. Both structures will be two of the signature elements of the new playground.
Fundraising for the playground is two-thirds complete, with $270,000 of the project’s $400,000 cost already committed. In an effort to encourage giving, a donor has announced a $10,000 challenge grant for the project.
Up to $10,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the donor.
