Friday not only marks the first South Main trolley night of 2013, but also the opening of ARTjamN’s bigger and brighter paint studio at 515 S. Main St.
ARTjamN describes itself as “creative paint fun,” or “paintertainment.” Maria and Steve Parham started the business two years ago this month in Cooper-Young.
ARTjamN provides all of the supplies necessarily for people to embrace their inner-Picasso – the canvas, easel, paint and brushes – all in a laid-back group setting. Maria Parham told The Daily News in January 2010 that although customers are encouraged to express their individual creativity, they aren’t on their own with a paint brush and blank canvas.
“There’s also a guided art jam for people who need a little more assistance or encouragement, so you can choose free style or guided,” she said. “With the guided, I will actually walk you through step-by-step how to paint a particular painting. With free style, you can come up with a concept or something out of a magazine or a sketch that you’ve done and come in and paint your own painting in whatever size you want.”
ARTjamN will celebrate its new location with music by Kitty Dearing and Craig Davis and refreshments Friday, Jan. 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Like them on Facebook here.
