A new category called “Memphis Rocks” in the On Location: MEMPHIS International Film and Music Festival is all about encouraging Memphians to create short films showcasing reasons why they love the city.
The new category is the result of a partnership between the festival and the Lipscomb Pitts Breakfast Club. According to the contest rules, entries may spotlight an individual’s story or perspective, their church, school, organization, work in the community or any other localized story they would like to tell through film, and submissions must be no more than five minutes in length.
Each submission will be uploaded to the “Memphis Rocks” YouTube channel, and the submission that receives the most online votes there will win the “Viewer’s Choice” award. Winning videos will be shown at the 14th Annual Memphis International Film and Music Festival April 25-28.
The deadline for submissions is February 28, and submissions should be entered online at the film festival’s website, www.onlocationmemphis.org.
A submission fee of $25 will be donated to the Memphis Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial.
