FedEx helping with hurricane relief

FedEx Corp. is donating $1.2 million in cash and in-kind transportation to support relief efforts in the northeast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The Memphis-based package delivery giant said Wednesday it’s providing that support to The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Heart to Heart International and Direct Relief International. It follows recent FedEx relief efforts including donating $1 million in cash and in-kind transportation to help those affected by the 2011 tsunami and earthquake in Japan; donating $1.8 million, including transporting more than 1 million pounds of supplies, to help those affected by the Haiti earthquake in 2010; and providing in-kind shipping for more than 2 million pounds of relief aid to those affected along the Gulf Coast during the 2005 hurricane season.
