The Beale Street Caravan blues-themed radio show has picked up a prestigious broadcasting honor.
The show is being honored with the ASCAP Deems Taylor Radio Broadcast Award for outstanding music programming and/or coverage. The award is presented each year to American authors and journalists, broadcasters and websites.
Winners will be honored at a reception Nov. 14th. Previous recipients have included All Things Considered, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Fresh Air with Terry Gross, among others.
The Beale Street Caravan is a kind of love letter – in radio form – to one of Memphis’ most adored exports around the world, and it’s been on the air since October of 1996, now heard by millions of listeners around the world.
