Memphian to Appear on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars

Memphian Tamara Sawyer, founder of TamiCakes, will appear on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars at 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 24.

Each week on Cupcake Wars, four of the country’s top cupcake bakers face off in three elimination challenges until only one decorator remains. The winner receives $10,000 and the opportunity to showcase their cupcakes at gigs that have run the gamut from film festivals to celebrity golf tournaments.

Sawyer, a 2004 University of Memphis graduate and alumna of St. Mary’s Episcopal School, is featured in the June 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine.

Before moving to D.C., Sawyer was active in the Memphis community as a Bridge Builders’ Alum, Girls Inc. camp counselor and Links Inc. debutante. She is currently active with St. Mary’s Annual Fund leading fundraising efforts for her class. Sawyer’s brother and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hooks Jr., reside in Memphis.
