Child Advocacy Center Grounds Need TLC

Memphis Child Advocacy Center, a nonprofit that serves Shelby County children who are victims of severe physical and sexual abuse, is calling on the community to help beautify its grounds at 1085 Poplar Avenue.

The building’s original brick walls had begun to cave in and its attic was on the verge of collapse. The organization called in a structural engineering company to perform the necessary renovations, but the work left the center’s grounds a mess.

Memphis Child Advocacy Center is asking for donations of hoses, sprinklers, mulch and colorful flowers. It’s also seeking volunteers with shovels, trowels, rakes, hedge clippers and manpower to donate their time to cleaning up and beautifying the site during a service day on Saturday, June 9 .

Employees say keeping a positive atmosphere at the center is an integral part of making the children whom they serve, who’ve been through very traumatic events, feel safe.

To donate or volunteer, contact Su Hartline at shartline@memphiscac.org or call (901) 888-4337.
