Today is Muddy’s Bake Shop’s first real birthday.
Muddy’s opened in a 1,400-square-foot space in Sanderlin Shopping Center on Leap Day in 2008, making Wednesday, Feb. 29, the first day the local bakery is able to celebrate its birthday.
And the eatery wants its customers to take part in the celebration. Muddy’s will close Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and have a birthday party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at its East Memphis store, 5101 Sanderlin Ave., suite 114.
Muddy’s will be serving mini-cupcakes, chocolate chip mini-cookies, chocolate sea salt mini-cookies, pie bites, toffee bars, pimento cheese party sammies, and more. There will even be a performance by Bill Stanek – the stepdad of one of Muddy’s bakers who wrote a song about Muddy’s. Check out Muddy’s birthday blog post/flyer here.
Muddy’s first real birthday comes less than two weeks after the creator of “prozac” and “chunky dunk” cupcakes inked a new 3,000-square-foot lease off Broad Avenue to meet the growing demand of the Sanderlin store. Read more here.
