BGR The Burger Joint, the second national gourmet burger franchise to set up shop near the Poplar and Interstate 240 corridor, is now open in Ridgeway Trace Center.
The Lansdowne, Va.-based franchise signed a 1,725-square-foot lease at 5865 Poplar Ave., between Sports Clips and Yogurt Mountain, in August.
Unlike contender Five Guys Burgers and Fries, it’s the restaurant’s entrance into the Tennessee market. The majority of its presence so far has been in the Northeastern U.S. – with locations in Maryland, New York and Washington.
And the expanding chain is on the prowl for more Memphis-area locations.
“We have a couple of other ideas in the city, but this, being their first location, was really critical to establishing themselves,” Cathy Anderson of Crye-Leike Commercial told The Daily News in August.
BRG The Burger Joint’s tagline is, “One Burger YOU MUST HAVE before you die.” The menu contains a variety of burgers like traditional ground beef, turkey and veggie options, but also features slightly more adventurous choices like Cuban, Greek, ahi tuna, lobster and even a nine-pounder.
Other items on BRG The Burger Joint’s menu include fries, onion rings and grilled asparagus topped with parmesan cheese. And the eatery sells Ghost River Golden Ale in bottles.
