TV Forum Coming For GOP Candidates For Gov.

The four Republican contenders for governor will be in Memphis Tuesday May 25 for a live television forum that will be seen across the state.

The joint appearances have been common for Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey and Chattanooga Cong. Zach Wamp. But the fourth candidate Joe Kirkpatrick has made few campaign appearances.

As the year began there have been fewer joint appearances as Haslam, Ramsey and Wamp have focused on establishing their individual identities with voters.

The forum on WKNO Channel 10, moderated by Eric Barnes, publisher of The Daily News, will air Tuesday from 7pm-8:30pm and again at midnight. It will also be repeated May 29 at 6:30 pm and May 30 at 2:30 pm on WKNO2.

Journalists from across the state will question the candidates for 90 minutes in the forum sponsored by the Tennessee Public Television Council and the League of Women Voters of Memphis and Shelby County.

You can also submit questions for the candidates at TNdecides@wkno.org

No Democratic forum is planned since Mike McWherter is the only candidate left in the Aug. 5 Democratic primary. There are plans for a general election television forum between McWherter and the winner of the Aug. 5 GOP primary.

  1. I suppose I cannot blame you for not knowing who I am. I have spent virtually no time in Shelby County.

I have 4 kids including 4yo triplets and an actual job. Excuses aside, when school ends here next Friday, I plan to canvass every area of the state I have missed in my first 11 months of campaigning.

Try my website link. Less filling. Tastes great.

Since I will have equal time Tuesday night, I sincerely believe there will be no doubt about who I am and what I stand for when our 90 minutes are up.

Best wishes to you. Thanks for the mention.
