The fourth annual Mid-South Farm to Table Conference will be held next month at Christian Brothers University.
The conference on Feb. 4 is intended to give farmers, consumers, entrepreneurs and other interested groups a venue for talking about developing the local food system in the Memphis area.
The conference was founded in 2011. Some of the highlights this year include panels designed for farmers, including farm profitability and sessions on work being done to increase food access in Memphis’ poorest neighborhoods.
Attendees also can expect to see Nat Turner, founder of the project “Our School at Blair Grocery,” talking about growing food in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. Chef Miles McMath will talk about integrating local food into the St. Jude cafeteria, as well as his passion for raising and growing his own animals and crops.
