The Travel Channel’s show “Adam Richman’s Fandemonium” is airing a Memphis-flavored episode Sun., Aug. 4.
That episode will find host Richman heading to Memphis in May’s 2013 World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest to get a taste of the contest’s smokers, booths and award-winning barbecue. The show is “on a mission to explore the world of super-fans” and the lengths they go to in celebration of their passions.
“Memphis in May is one of the largest and most prestigious barbeque competitions in the world, and fans drop tens of thousands of dollars to participate and to build some of the most outrageous grills and smokers anyone has ever seen,” reads promotional material for the episode. “‘Adam Richman’s Fandemonium’ explores what makes someone willing to quit their job, and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on costumes, gear and food at their favorite events.”
