Light filters into faded Chisca

Contractors are tearing away the plywood that has covered hundreds of windows at the old Chisca Hotel., letting the old hotel feel the sun for the first time in decades,
For the first time in years, streams of light are now seeping into the recesses of the eight-story hotel.
Contractors have been busy removing the plywood that covered the windows at the hotel at Main Street and Fr. M. L. King Jr, Ave.
“Right now we are trying to get the plywood out of the windows to get it to where there is light in there,” said carpenter Jose Reyes. “There’s a lot of plywood here.”
Reyes estimated that the building contained at least 600 windows – those looking outside the building and interior windows .
Work is actually happening at the Chicsca after years of false starts and delays.
The Carlisle Corp., Terry Lynch, Gary Prosterman and Karl Schledwitz are the ownership group behind the r$20 million-plus renovation.
