Wal-Mart Scoops Up Remainder of Yarnell’s

Fanatics of Yarnell’s Ice Cream Co. are in luck.

Company spokeswoman Natalie Ghidotti said the inventory left behind from the June 30 closing has been sold to Wal-Mart Stores Inc., according to Arkansas Business L.P.

The inventory was collateral for Searcy, Ark.-based Yarnell’s bank line of credit, so that’s where the proceeds of the sale will go, vice president of development finance for the Arkansas Development Finance Authority Gene Eagle told the paper. ADFA also loaned money to Yarnell’s, but its bonds were secured by the plant rather than the ice cream itself.

Timing and locations of which Wal-Marts will carry the 79-year-old-ice cream line have not yet been released.
