Memphians Still Like Their Gas Guzzlers
Memphis hasn’t bought into the hybrid vehicle craze, as evidenced by the latest Cars.com list of the most eco-friendly car shopping cities.
The city ranked 162nd out of 210 in the website’s third annual Green Cities Index.
San Francisco was No.1 based on interest in hybrid vehicles as a percentage of total car shopping activity on Cars.com.
“The South continues to lag behind most major cities in the country in embracing hybrid vehicles,” according to a release. “For the second straight year, Laredo, Texas, had the dubious distinction of being last on our list.”
Other Tennessee cites included Nashville (84); Knoxville (102); Chattanooga (114); and Jackson (117).
