Memphis-based auto parts company AutoZone and Memphis Redbirds Baseball are teaming up to raise money for the family of Memphis Police Officer Timothy Warren, who was killed while responding to a July 3rd shooting at the Double Tree Hotel, just next door to AutoZone Park in Downtown Memphis.
“This was an unimaginable tragedy, and as part of the Memphis community we want to do our part to provide assistance to the Warren family,” Redbirds General Manager Ben Weiss said. “Officer Warren was truly a hero, and helping his family is an honor.”
On Friday, July 15th, the Redbirds will play a double-header, with the first game starting at 5:05 PM with a moment of silence to recognize Warren’s ultimate sacrifice for the City of Memphis.
For each ticket sold for Friday’s game, the Redbirds will donate $1 to the Warren Memorial Fund set up at Regions Bank. Each $1 donated will be tripled, thanks to corporate partners AutoZone and Fundamental Advisors.
The Redbirds will be accepting additional donations from fans at the game, and various items will be up for auction, with proceeds benefiting the fund.
