The oldest tavern in Memphis is back in operations.
Today marks the official grand opening of The Green Beetle, 325 S. Main. Established in 1939 by Frank Liberto, the Memphis restaurant and bar has been closed since July 2010 until it was reestablished by Josh Huckaby, Liberto’s grandson.
The hours will eventually be 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., Huckaby said, but are currently “to be determined,” and are subject to change.
The Green Beetle is also featuring a limited menu for the time being. Regular menu items include all of the bar-grub necessities: hot wings, nachos, salads, and an array of sandwiches.
