Official statement from Memphis police shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday night –

“Officers were dispatched at approximately 7 p.m. to the Doubletree concerning shots fired.

Upon arriving on the scene, officers checked the location at which time 1 officer was shot.

The officer was transported in extremely critical condition. 1 possible suspect is in custody.

Sgt. Macon-Moore is headed to the scene for additional information.

It is unknown if anyone else was injured.

Additional information will be available on the scene.”
