The praise of Bill Dries couldn’t be more deserved. It’s all true, and more.
One thing the story reflects is a theme I’ve heard in so much feedback I’ve gotten since the story and my column first appeared: people want, desperately, for the Commercial Appeal to be successful, relevant, intelligent. They don’t want it to fail. They want it to succeed.
And when the CA is relevant and intelligent, they can dominate a story, as they have with their recent series of articles on trouble at the rape crisis center. Here’s hoping they keep that sort of reporting going.
