If you are within a 5 hour drive of Memphis, early stage venture investor Vic Gatto tweeted on Sunday, get in the car and come to Memphis.
Sunday marked Day 1 of the “Everywhere Else” startup conference, and it marked both an introduction of Memphis to hundreds of startups and founders, investors and venture capitalists from around the world, as well as the inaugural assembly of the startup community too often ignored by the coasts.
Nibletz.com is the tech blog that’s spearheaded the event. Sunday was a day of settling in, of introductions, of welcomes, attendees taking in the Grizzlies-Timberwolves game and the inevitable exploration of Memphis’ culinary delights. I talked to a few who had just come from the Arcade and Eighty3.
“So far, it’s a blast,” entrepreneur and new media specialist Tony Monteleone told The Daily News. “I am quickly falling in love with Memphis.”
