A film version of Memphis, the musical

According to The New York Times, Mark Gordon and Molly Smith (the daughter of FedEx founder Fred Smith) are announcing Mon., Oct. 15, that they and Alcon Entertainment are producing a movie version of the Tony Award-winning musical “Memphis.”

Alcon, a production company with a relationship with Warner Bros., was started with financial support and involvement from the FedEx founder. His daughter has made a name for herself with production involvement in a variety of major films, including the Academy Award-winning “The Blind Side.”
