Ryan Edwards Memorial Clean-up Memphis Event Slated for Saturday

Today would have been Ryan Barek Edward’s 24th birthday.

Edwards died in March of injuries he suffered from diving into shallow surf while on spring break in Destin, Fla.

Edwards graduated from St. Dominic School for Boys and Christian Brothers High School and was a May 2012 degreed candidate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in environmental studies. Known as “Cardboard Eddy” by his friends, Edwards dedicated his short life to service and promoting environmental sustainability.

That’s why Edwards’ family and friends have organized the Ryan Edwards Memorial Clean-up Memphis Event for Saturday, Aug. 11, to celebrate his life and legacy. Attendees will pick up trash in the Downtown/South Main area and sort out recycled materials.

The free event kicks off at 10 a.m. at National Civil Rights Museum, 450 Mulberry St. Clean Memphis will provide bags, gloves and water.

Birthday cake and fruit will be provided as well.
