Elvis Week Art Exhibits

Elvis Week is in full swing. As spelled out in this week’s The Memphis News, more than 25 events are scheduled for the eight-day celebration that lasts through Saturday, Aug. 18.

For those weary of crowds, there are a variety of ways that Memphians can also experience Elvis Week beyond going to Graceland – by going the artsy route.

The “Elvis at 21: Photographs by Alfred Wertheimer” taking place at Memphis Pink Palace Museum. The Smithsonian exhibition runs until Oct. 14, but the Pink Palace will be extending its hours until 9:00 p.m. through Aug. 15.

And Memphis Brooks Museum of Art is hosting the “If I Can Dream Art Contest and Exhibition.” The display runs through Sept. 16 and features original artwork from around the world that has been inspired by, “If I Can Dream,” sang by Elvis during the closing of his 1968 NBC television special.

The “Elvis is in the Building” Photography Exhibition will also be on view at the Brooks until Oct. 31.
