Electrolux Epilogue

A few weeks ago, a consulting firm wrote to the Chamber of Commerce in the Canadian locale where Electrolux currently has the plant that it’s moving to Memphis. According to Canadian newspaper La Presse, the firm offered aid to subcontractors who want to follow Electrolux in its move to Memphis, where the company has decided to build a manufacturing plant that will bring more than 1,200 jobs.

However, some people are still holding out hope that Electrolux’s decision to close the plant in Canada can be changed.

Jolyane Pronovost, spokesman for Economic Development Minister Clement Gignac, was quoted in La Presse as saying a lack of dialogue with Electrolux so far about the decision does not necessarily mean it’s too late to keep the facility from moving.

Electrolux announced in December it’s building a 700,000-square-foot, LEED-certified plant in Memphis.
